Who we are

A small product team with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and compliance

NorthRiver Trade is a Canadian-focused online platform that supports investing and trading education with practical, research-oriented tools. We were founded in 2017 with a straightforward idea: most people do better when they have a repeatable process, clear terminology, and a place to record what they are doing and why. Markets can move quickly, but learning and decision quality improve when you slow down and document assumptions.

Our content is written to be understood without jargon. When we use technical terms, we define them and give examples that show how a concept is used in practice. Our tools are designed to support planning and review, including watchlists, reminder-style alerts, and scenario calculators that use user inputs. We do not present tools as predictions, and we avoid outcome-based language that could be misleading.

We also take privacy and consent seriously. Visitors can choose whether to enable analytics and marketing cookies, and the website remains usable even if non-essential cookies are rejected. If you are arriving from a paid advertisement, the page content and experience are the same as for any other visitor.

What we prioritize

Design choices that make the platform easier to use, easier to evaluate, and easier to trust.

Read Terms

Transparency

Clear disclosures about what the site provides, how tools should be used, and how cookies are handled, so visitors can make informed choices.

Accessibility

Keyboard-friendly navigation, readable contrast, and layouts that work on mobile and desktop without hiding essential information.

Risk-aware education

Content emphasizes uncertainty, risk controls, and realistic expectations. No income promises and no pressure-based messaging.

Privacy choices

Consent controls let you accept, reject, or manage cookie categories. Non-essential scripts activate only after your choice.

How to use the platform responsibly

A practical framework for using educational content and tools without treating them as personalized advice.

  1. 1

    Start with definitions and constraints

Decide what you are trying to do and what you are not willing to do. Many users begin with a risk limit and a time horizon, then use the learning hub to confirm they understand basic mechanics.

  2. 2

Use tools to compare scenarios, not to predict

Scenario calculators can help you understand sensitivity. Treat outputs as illustrations based on your inputs and assumptions, not as forecasts.

  3. 3

Write a thesis in plain language

A short note about what would support your view and what would invalidate it can reduce impulsive decisions. The goal is consistency, not perfection.

  4. 4

Review outcomes and adjust your process

Periodically revisit your notes to see whether your assumptions held. Learning is cumulative and works best when you can track what you thought at the time.
